Online buzzer for quiz competitions Every phone in the room is a buzzer.

Players buzz in from their own phones and the projector shows who pressed first. Each press is timed on the phone that made it, so a slow network never hands anyone the turn.

Fair to the back row

Nobody loses the turn to a slow network.

The fastest hand wins, not the fastest Wi-Fi. That is what ends the “my buzzer was late” argument.

Timed on each phone, from its own BUZZ!

Riya’s Wi-Fi was slower, but she reacted faster, so she gets the turn. Each press counts from the moment her own screen lit up.

Set waits for every phone

Before the buzzers open, the room waits until each phone confirms it is ready, for up to 2 seconds.

Too close? You make the call.

When two presses land within 0.05 s of each other, your console says so and shows both times. You decide, in front of the room.

Pressed too early? That player, or their whole team, is locked for 2 seconds. Switch the rule off, or put early pressers out for the rest of the question.

Pro: 20 rooms a month

How it works

Three steps, no kit

  1. Set up the room

Choose solo players or teams, name the teams, and set the points and the time to answer.

  2. Players join on their phones

They scan the QR code or type the room code into any phone browser. One phone per team works too.

  3. Open the buzzers

Ask the question and press Space. Then C for correct, W for wrong, and the next team in line gets the turn. U undoes any slip.

Common questions

Is the online buzzer free?

Yes. The free plan gives you 3 buzzer rooms a month and 20 players across them, with up to 2 teams in a room, and trying it out never uses it up. Pro gives you 20 rooms a month for up to 200 players each and 12 teams, puts your logo on the buzzer screen and adds the Excel results with the buzz log. Pro+ has no monthly limit.

How does it know who pressed first?

Each phone times the press from the moment its own screen showed BUZZ!, so a slower connection does not cost anyone the turn. When two presses land within 0.05 s, your console says it is too close to call and you decide.

Do players need an app or an account?

No. Players join in the phone browser with the room code. Only you, the host, sign in.

Can a team share one phone?

Yes. Give each team one phone, or let every player buzz for their team from their own phone.

Can I show my own questions?

Yes. Read them out, show your own slides, or paste your list into the console and the projector shows each question as you ask it. The answers stay on your screen.

What happens if someone presses too early?

By default an early press locks that player, or their whole team, for 2 seconds. You can switch the rule off, or put early pressers out for the rest of the question.
