Mentimeter Pricing (2026): Every Plan, the 50-a-Month Free Cap, and a Free Alternative
What each Mentimeter plan costs on its US and India price lists, how the free plan's monthly cap works in a real week, and the free tools that reset every session. Checked on mentimeter.com on 25 September 2026.
TL;DR
- •Mentimeter has four plans: Free; Basic at $11.99 per presenter a month on the US price list (€14 on the list shown in India); Pro at $24.99 (€28); and Enterprise, priced on request. Paid prices are billed yearly and exclude tax.
- •The free plan caps participants at 50 per month across all your presentations, plus one session a month that may go over. After that session, no presentation can go live until the monthly reset.
- •Education pricing: Basic $8.99 and Pro $14.99 per presenter a month, billed yearly. The free plan is the same for teachers.
- •Pro can't be paid monthly. The plans page shown in India says Basic can't either; the US page says Basic can be billed monthly.
- •Free alternatives that don't count by the month: Quizotic (50 per session, unlimited sessions), Slido (100 per slido, 3 polls each) and AhaSlides (50 per presentation).
Mentimeter is free for up to 50 participants a month; Basic costs $11.99 per presenter a month and Pro $24.99 on its US price list — €14 and €28 on the list it shows a visitor in India — billed yearly, and Enterprise is priced on request. That is the short answer, checked on mentimeter.com on 25 September 2026. The part most people miss is how the free plan counts: not per presentation, but as one monthly pool shared by everything you run. This guide sets out every plan, how that pool behaves in a real week, what yearly billing means for your budget, when Mentimeter is worth paying for, and the free alternatives.
Mentimeter plans and prices (2026)
Free — $0. 50 participants a month, plus one session a month that may go over. Includes Menti AI, word clouds, polls, quizzes and Q&A; no slide import and no result export. Basic — $11.99 per presenter a month on the US price list, €14 on the list shown in India, billed yearly. Unlimited participants, slide import from PowerPoint, Keynote or PDF, and result export to Excel or PDF. Pro — $24.99 or €28 per presenter a month, billed yearly. Adds custom themes and branding, workspace collaboration, participant names, moderated Q&A, and slides embedded from PowerPoint Web, Google Slides and Miro. Enterprise — custom price. Adds single sign-on and SCIM, participant verification, LMS integration (Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, D2L Brightspace) and priority support. Paid prices exclude tax. Mentimeter shows a different price list by region; the two above are what a US visitor and a visitor in India saw on 25 September 2026, and this page does not convert one into the other.
Mentimeter education pricing
Mentimeter's plans for teachers and students (mentimeter.com/plans/education) cost less: Basic is $8.99 and Pro $14.99 per presenter a month, billed yearly and excluding tax, with Enterprise priced on request. The free plan is the same one everyone gets — 50 participants a month, plus one session that may go over — so the education discount only helps once you pay.
How the free plan's 50-participant cap actually works
Mentimeter counts participants per month, not per presentation. Everyone who responds to any of your presentations comes out of one monthly pool of 50, which resets on the day of the month you signed up. Mentimeter never cuts off a presentation that is running: if you pass 50 in the middle of a session, it carries on, and you get an 8-hour grace period to finish. After that, you cannot set another presentation live until the reset, unless you upgrade. That is what the plan means by "unlimited participants once per month" — one session a month can go over the cap. Take a teacher with five classes of 30, or 150 people a week. The first class uses 30 of the 50. The second takes the total past 50, and Mentimeter lets it finish. From then until the reset date, no presentation can go live — so the free plan covers two class periods out of roughly twenty in the month. Mentimeter's page does not say whether one student in two presentations counts once or twice; the result is the same either way, because 150 different people is three times the pool. A trainer who runs one 40-person workshop a month, on the other hand, fits the free plan comfortably.
Yearly billing: what it means for your budget
Mentimeter quotes a monthly price, but you pay for the year: one Basic licence is $143.88 a year on the US list (12 × $11.99) or €168 on the India list, and one Pro licence is $299.88 or €336, before tax. Pro and Enterprise cannot be paid month to month. For Basic, it depends on the page you see: on 25 September 2026 the plans page shown to a visitor in India answered "Can I pay for one month?" with no — yearly subscriptions only — while the US version of the same page says Basic is available for monthly billing. For a single event, Mentimeter sells a conference package instead. If you change your mind, it refunds a purchase cancelled within 14 days, provided you have not yet used Mentimeter at a live event. It takes credit and debit cards and PayPal, and offers invoices payable by bank transfer for Pro.
When Mentimeter is worth paying for
If you present to large rooms every week and care about how your slides look, Basic is good value: unlimited participants, slide import and Excel export for $11.99 a month on the US list, billed yearly. Pro earns its price for teams that share templates and branding, or need moderated Q&A in front of senior audiences. And if your organisation has already standardised on Mentimeter, the switching cost is real — your presentations, templates and colleagues are there. Mentimeter is the more mature presentation tool; Quizotic's strengths are scored quizzes and a free plan that resets every session, not slide design.
Free Mentimeter alternatives compared
Checked on each vendor's pricing page on 25 September 2026. Quizotic — 50 per session, unlimited sessions. Polls, word clouds, open-ended questions, rating, ranking and Q&A, plus scored quizzes with a leaderboard, in the same session; 10 AI-generated questions a month on the free plan (20 in the first week); 10 saved quizzes and 3 saved presentations of up to 20 slides each. Slido — 100 per slido; the free Basic plan allows 3 polls per slido, with basic Q&A. The strongest free option for audience questions at a one-off event. AhaSlides — 50 per presentation, with up to 5 quiz questions and 3 poll questions per presentation, and unlimited presentations a month. The deciding question is how often you present: if it is every week, a per-session cap (Quizotic) or a per-event cap (Slido, AhaSlides) outlasts a monthly one.
Switching from Mentimeter to Quizotic
There is no importer for Mentimeter files, so you rebuild the questions by copying the text across. Quizotic's free plan keeps 3 presentations of up to 20 slides each and 10 quizzes, which covers a trainer or teacher who reuses the same session every week; a large library of decks needs Pro, which is planned at $4.99/month, not yet on sale. The steps are below.
Step-by-step
- 1
Sign up free
Create an account at quizotic.live with Google, Microsoft or your email address. No card is needed, and the free plan seats 50 participants in every session.
- 2
Rebuild your slides as a presentation
Create a presentation and add the interactions your Mentimeter deck used — polls, word clouds, open-ended questions, rating, ranking and Q&A. Copy the question text across; there is no importer for Mentimeter files.
- 3
Add a quiz if you want scoring
Add scored questions for a leaderboard, or build a separate quiz. AI can draft questions from a topic or a PDF: 10 a month on the free plan (20 in your first week). Review every one before you present.
- 4
Share the 6-digit PIN
Start the session and put it on screen. Participants open quizotic.live/join on any phone, type the 6-digit PIN and a name, and they are in — no app and no account.
- 5
Present from PowerPoint if you prefer
Quizotic runs inside PowerPoint as a content add-in, so the live question, responses and leaderboard appear on your slide; it installs from a manifest today, and the Microsoft Marketplace listing is in progress. The add-in and importing a whole PPTX deck are both part of Pro, which is planned at $4.99/month, not yet on sale.
Frequently asked
Is Mentimeter free?
Yes. Mentimeter's free plan caps participants at 50 per month across all your presentations, plus one session a month that may go over, with word clouds, polls, quizzes and Q&A. It has no slide import and no result export; those start on Basic.
How many participants can join Mentimeter for free?
50 a month in total, not 50 per presentation. One session a month may go over the cap; once it has, no presentation can go live until the count resets on the day of the month you signed up.
What happens when I reach Mentimeter's free participant limit?
The presentation you are running carries on — Mentimeter never stops people joining a live session — and you get an 8-hour grace period to finish it. After that you cannot set another presentation live until your monthly limit resets, unless you upgrade to a paid plan.
Can I pay for Mentimeter monthly?
Not for Pro or Enterprise. For Basic, it depends on where you are: on 25 September 2026 the plans page shown in India said Basic and Pro are yearly subscriptions only, while the US page said Basic is available for monthly billing. For a single event there is a conference package.
How much is Mentimeter in India?
On 25 September 2026 the plans page showed a visitor in India Basic at €14 and Pro at €28 per presenter a month, billed yearly and excluding tax — priced in euros. A US visitor saw $11.99 and $24.99. Mentimeter takes cards or PayPal, so the amount on an Indian card statement also depends on the exchange rate and your bank's fees.
Does Mentimeter have education pricing?
Yes: Basic $8.99 and Pro $14.99 per presenter a month for teachers and students, billed yearly (mentimeter.com/plans/education, checked 25 September 2026). The free plan is the same as everyone else's.
What is the best free alternative to Mentimeter?
It depends on how often you present. For sessions every week, Quizotic: 50 per session, unlimited sessions, with polls, word clouds, Q&A and scored quizzes. For a one-off event built around audience questions, Slido: 100 per slido and 3 polls. For short quizzes inside slides, AhaSlides: 50 per presentation, with up to 5 quiz questions and 3 poll questions per presentation.
When does Mentimeter's free plan reset?
Every month, on the day of the month you signed up — not on the 1st. Because the session that crosses 50 is the last one that can go live before the reset, run your biggest session at the end of your cycle, not the start.
