Free Mentimeter alternative for Indian corporate trainers

Mentimeter's free plan runs out after 50 participants a month. What trainers who run weekly sessions use instead — checked 25 September 2026.

TL;DR

  • •Mentimeter's free plan: 50 per month across all presentations, plus one session a month that may go over — then nothing until the reset.
  • •Quizotic's free plan: 50 per session, unlimited sessions — polls, word clouds, Q&A and scored quizzes in the same session.
  • •Paid Mentimeter: Basic is $11.99 per presenter a month on the US price list and €14 on the list shown in India, billed yearly.
  • •Stay on Mentimeter if your company has standardised on it or you need big rooms today; Quizotic Pro (500 per session) is planned at $4.99/month, not yet on sale.

Mentimeter is the polished standard for live polls and word clouds, and many Indian L&D teams start there. The problem for a trainer who runs sessions every week is the free plan: 50 participants a month, shared across every presentation. This guide covers what that means in practice, what a free alternative gives you, and when it is still worth staying on Mentimeter. Competitor figures were checked on each vendor's pricing page on 25 September 2026.

Why Mentimeter's free plan runs out for trainers

Mentimeter’s free plan gives you 50 participants a month, shared across every presentation, plus one session a month with no cap. Quizotic’s free plan gives you 50 participants in every session, with no monthly total, so a teacher with five classes a week never runs out. Mentimeter’s paid plans are billed yearly (Basic is $11.99 per presenter per month on its US price list and €14 on the list it shows visitors from India, checked 25 Sep 2026). In practice, a trainer running three 25-person workshops a week fills the month's pool with the first two; the third crosses the limit and is allowed to finish, and after that nothing can go live until the reset date.

Feature parity for the everyday training session

Single-choice and multi-choice polls, word clouds, open-ended responses, rating scales, ranking and anonymous Q&A with upvoting — Mentimeter, Slido, AhaSlides and Quizotic all have these. Mentimeter has more polished templates and animations; Quizotic adds full quiz mechanics on top — scored questions, a leaderboard, a speed bonus and team mode — so a workshop can end with a knowledge check in the same session as the polls. For most everyday L&D sessions the four are interchangeable on features, and the free plan decides.

What Quizotic's free plan includes — and what it doesn't

The free plan seats 50 people in every session, with no monthly total and no card. It keeps 3 saved presentations of up to 20 slides each and 10 saved quizzes, reports for your last 3 sessions, 10 AI-written questions a month (20 in your first week) and 10 PDF report downloads a month. Excel export, scheduled quizzes and PPTX import are Pro features, and Pro is planned at $4.99/month (₹399/month in India) and not yet on sale. For a trainer who reuses one workshop deck every week, one saved presentation is enough; for a library of decks, it is not.

When to stay on Mentimeter

If your global parent company has standardised on Mentimeter; if you have invested in templates and branded themes that do not port; if you present to rooms of hundreds every week and can pay for a year up front; or if your audiences are global and know the Mentimeter brand. For India-based trainers running workshops of up to 50 every week, a free plan that resets every session usually beats a free plan that counts by the month.

Paying for it

Mentimeter bills in US dollars or euros depending on your region, by card or PayPal, for a year at a time; Pro can also be invoiced for bank transfer. There is nothing to pay today: Quizotic is free, and the planned Pro plan is not on sale yet. When it launches it will bill in INR with UPI and a domestic GST invoice in India, and in USD by card elsewhere.

Frequently asked

Can I migrate my Mentimeter polls to Quizotic?

There is no importer for Mentimeter files, so you recreate the questions by copying the text across — a few minutes per slide. If your deck lives in PowerPoint, Quizotic's PowerPoint add-in adds live questions to it. The add-in and importing a whole PPTX deck are both part of Pro.

Is the free tier really free?

Yes: 50 per session, unlimited sessions, 3 saved presentations of up to 20 slides each, and 10 AI-written questions a month (20 in your first week). No card required.

What about Slido?

Slido is strongest for audience Q&A and fits organisations on Webex or Microsoft Teams. Its free plan takes 100 per slido, but the free Basic plan allows 3 polls per slido; unlimited polls and quizzes start on Engage at $12.50 a month, billed $150 a year.

Can we pay for Quizotic today?

Not yet. There is nothing to pay today: Quizotic is free, and the planned Pro plan is not on sale yet. When it launches it will bill in INR with UPI and a domestic GST invoice in India, and in USD by card elsewhere.
